Where sound becomes data

Violins
from Paris.

You know what you feel when you play.

Now you can know exactly why.

We are a marketplace for instruments whose sound can be explained. Every instrument in our catalogue is measured: we scientifically document its geometry, its wood properties and its vibroacoustic behaviour — so the luthier, the musician and the collector know it is far more than a beautiful object. And we never leave style behind. We are building a growing circle of experts to make it real.

Physical character & acoustic role

  • A₀ — Helmholtz-type air-cavity resonance, set by the f-hole geometry, the enclosed air volume and the compliance of the walls. Usually 260–300 Hz; an efficient radiator at low frequencies.
  • CBR — a rhomboidal shearing of the waist (centre-bout rotation). Usually 370–450 Hz; structurally well defined but a comparatively weak radiator.
  • B1⁻ & B1⁺ — the first two global bending modes of the whole body, near 430–480 Hz and 520–580 Hz. Together they are the main contributors to radiated sound power.

Viola · Lupot

Paris, 2026 · 41 cm · Reconstruction & optimisation

Built by Ik Arellano González

Presented at the 50th International Viola Congress (Paris, 2026) as a study in reconstruction and optimisation. The work started from a Lupot violin that Ik knew closely and reinterpreted as a viola; during the same congress we had the chance to study an original Lupot viola. A 41 cm instrument modelled after the style of Nicolas Lupot (1803).

What we offer

Our services.

For musicians

Your instrument has a voice. We document it. Full vibroacoustic analysis, scientific report, data to buy, sell or insure your violin with certainty.

Acoustic report

For luthiers

You built something extraordinary. Certify it. We measure your instrument, compare it against our reference database and issue a scientific certification — ideal for BELE, INBAL or Cremona graduates.

Luthier certification

Our shop

Every violin in our catalogue comes with its complete vibroacoustic signature. You know what you are buying before you play it. No surprises, no blind reputation.

Informed purchase

Custom commission

The sound you are looking for exists. We work with a network of luthiers to design and build it — combining artisanal tradition with finite element modelling.

Towards a finite element model of a batch of experimental violins: validation on sub-structural components

Amaury Meza-Pérez, George Stoppani, Romain Viala, Sebastian Gonzalez, Unai Igartua, Roberto Jardón Rico, Claudia Fritz

Six violins built with systematic geometric control during the Bilbao project — varying top and back plate thickness. This paper develops and validates a parametric FEM model of the violin body against experimental measurements on sub-structural components. The model captures vibroacoustic behaviour with sufficient fidelity to serve as a predictive design tool.
